OUR CHILDREN ARE AT RISK ! ! !

ACTUALLY....... It's not well known, but almost 1/3 of America's kids get their health care from Medicaid, which is a program that serves the poor.  Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan's plans are to severely cut federal funding, which clearly will effect Medicaid and would shrink the number of kids getting health care. In his own words Romney said "I'm not concerned about the very poor". Both Romney and Ryan are in agreement to transform medicaid from an entitlement into a "block grant" program that would give each state a certain amount of money each year to spend on health care services for the poor.

Children's advocates are concerned in particular about the kids losing their benefits if the plan is adopted.  With the cuts that Ryan proposed in a budget adopted by the House Republicans last March, all children covered today would not be able to keep their health benefits.

America's children make up about about 1/3 of Medicaids beneficiaries.  The rest is pregnant women, people with disabilities, and the elderly.   The President of the American Academy of Pediatrics says that taking money from the Medicaid program would assure that a number of children would be dropped.

Medicaid funding is a big and growing problem. The Federal and state governments spent $404 billion in the fiscal year ending September 30, 2010.   Enrollment is up - at least 10 million people have joined Medicaid since 2007, just before the recession began.  Spending and enrollment grew because more people needed assistance, not because the program is not controlling costs.  Romney has not yet issued a detailed proposal, however according to his website, he does support converting Medicaid into a block program.

According to Henry J. Kaiser Family Program analysis of his 2011 plan, Ryan's proposal would cause between 10 million and 27 million people to loose their Medicaid benefits.  Romney and Ryan also want to repeal the health care reform law, which will add 11 million people to Medicaid starting in 2014.  Pennsylvania has removed 90,000 kids from it's Medicaid program since last August.  "Block grant" proposals would give Governors more flexibility to shrink Medicaid.  The "block grant" program in Ryan's budget would give states the freedom to innovate, and I seriously dislike that term!! That includes the freedom to purge people from the Medicaid rolls.  Children's advocates may be focused on kids but the elderly and disabled are also vulnerable.

ROMNEY AND RYAN'S HEALTH CARE PLAN WILL ENDANGER OUR CHILDREN

HERE WE GO AGAIN

ACTUALLY....... When I think of walk-back I think of a famous entertainer who used to "Moon Walk".  That was walking-back in style.  Surely Mitt Romney doesn't think he is anywhere close to Michael Jackson's interpretation, however Mitt's on the roll again.

This time Romney is doing a little Moon Walk on Obamacare.  In his speech to the Republican National Convention he said:  "We must reign in skyrocketing cost of health care by repealing and replacing Obamacare".  Romney's campaign clarified that the he would try to repeal the entire law. His campaign website says that Romney will issue an executive order on his 'first day in office' granting states waivers out of Obamacare, and promises he will "then work with Congress to repeal the full legislation as quickly as possible. I say we're going to replace Obamacare. And I'm replacing it with my own plan". On the day the Supreme Court upheld the Obama law, Romney said "the American people must vote the president out of office in order to get rid of Obamacare".

Here's the walk-back from his previous comments.  On Meet The Press, Sunday, September 9th, Romney said "I'm not getting rid of all of health care reform.  Of course there are a number of things that I like in health care reform that I'm going to put in place.  One: is to make sure that those with pre-existing conditions can get coverage.  Two: is to assure that the marketplace allows for individuals to have policies that cover their family up to whatever age they might like."  Oops! Another shuffle here:  in June, Romney said he was in favor of health reform guaranteeing that people with pre-existing conditions have access to new insurance if they change or lose their job.   Romney's plan refers to only people "who already have coverage and makes no allowance for people with a pre-existing condition who are currently uninsured". What is not said here is the fact that Romney doesn't plan to make sure that those with pre-existing conditions can even get health coverage.

Romney has never backed an important part of the Democrat's health care law - that which allows children to stay on the parent's plans up to age 26. Obamacare does this by requiring that insurance companies offer the coverage for dependent children.  Honestly, I'm not sure what Governor Romney really believes or what he will do. It's sorta' like, Hey Mitt, what about those taxes and offshore accounts?  He won't say!!!

MOST IMPORTANT, I BELIEVE HE DOESN'T HAVE A CLUE

HE SQUAWKS LIKE A DUCK, WALKS LIKE A DUCK, BUT IS HE REALLY A.........

ACTUALLY.....According to an ad that ran recently, the RNC obviously wants the American people to ignore what our President has delivered on promises he made four years ago.  These are just a few of those promises, and results, that the Republicans should be reminded of.

1.  The President promised to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. Now our dependence level has hit a 16 year low.
2.  He promised to change the tax code to support the middle-class instead of the wealthy.  He has delivered numerous tax cuts for middle-class families and small business.
3.  He pledged to make sure that community colleges prepare students for jobs in local industries.  He invested $2 million in community college and workforce training, and announced a Community College Career Fund to make that happen.
4.  He said he'd fight for American manufacturing.  Since 2010, the U.S. has created over 460,000 manufacturing jobs.
5.  He said that the military's Don't Ask Don't Tell policy was "counterproductive" and unfair.  In 2010 he sign its repeal.
6.  The President promised to make College more affordable.  He doubled funding for Pell Grants and is capping student loan programs.
7.  He promised to deliver health care reform so families could afford quality care.  In 2010, he signed the Affordable Care Act into law.

The Ad that was produced merely reflects negative tactics from Mitt Romney and the GOP to attack the President and try to upgrade their image in the voters eyes.  Romneys own strategist said that "it's clear that the negative ads are what's keeping Romney alive" and added that even Republican voters "will not vote for Mitt Romney unless they are forced into it, and the way they're forced into it is when he beats the other guy senseless".  Now, I ask you,  is that the kind of thing that the Mormon Church teaches??

Of course, we all know about Romneys deep pockets and that with the help of his PAC's he can produce numerous negative ads.  Gov. Romney is used to getting what he wants, he was raised that way, even if he sacrifices the truth in doing so.

O.K.  Mitt Romney - you proved you can talk the talk, now can you walk the walk!
