PATRIOTISM

ACTUALLY.........I'm really disappointed in myself for even reading this appalling article that was posted by ThinkProgress this morning. There was a gathering of approximately 75 Nevadans to watch the debate on October 15.  Nothing wrong with that, huh? Wrong!!  In my opinion none of these party-goers had the slightest interest in the debate.  In my opinion these 75 people are the most anti-American creatures I have ever heard of.

The first comment was from a person who said Obama cannot speak English, and that he wanted Americans in Benghazi to die, and hoped America will be taken over by the Islamic world.  This person further went on to say that Obama carries a literal Communist Party card, and should be sent back to Mexico.  (How Mexico got into this I have no idea.)

Boos were heard when Obama took the stage and one women shouted "He doesn't speak English!" Nearly every time Obama spoke thereafter, jeers erupted.  At times their anger turned to the audience, who supposedly contained "Democratic plants".  And yes, Candy Crowley wasn't left out of their rude remarks either.  When the discussion turned to the four Americans who were recently killed in Benghazi, a man said "Obama wanted them dead. They were ordered not to have loaded weapons", he said parroting a widely debunked claim.  When the conversation got to the Assault Weapon Ban and the president proclaimed his respect for the 2nd Amendment, the man yelled "Tomorrow we run to the gun store". Some more horrendous remarks:
  • "Did you notice the Muslim Islamic marriage inscription on Obama's wedding ring. He got it when he was 16 from the Islamic church.  Michelle doesn't have that because she's not Muslim."
  • "Obama wants America to go broke, because he doesn't want America to succeed.  He wants America to be taken over by the Islamic world".
  • Did you know his grandmother, his mother Michelle and him are all card-carrying members of the Communist Party?  We've got copies of their cards and numbers".
  • When asked what websites to visit to learn more go to WDN.com a birther-haven whose editor has blamed natural disasters on the growing acceptance of homosexuality."
I am not naive enough to think that everyone who lives in this country are upstanding citizens, but I am ashamed for those who don't know just how fortunate they are to live in the U.S.  I also hope that these horrendous, hideous, offensive people have some remorse for what they think and say.  I can only imagine the misery and unhappiness they must have in their miserable lives to think, feel and say the things that were said at this debate party.  Not only did they disrespect the President of the United States, but they dishonored the office of the Presidency of these United States. Thank you ThinkProgress, for publishing this article and opening my eyes a little wider to those who live around us.

 GOD BLESS AND PROTECT AMERICA

ELEGANTLY STATED OR INARTICULATE

ACTUALLY......  I really think Mitt Romney is pushing the envelop on this.  This 47% thing should really tell the tale of disaster.  It's unbelievable that a candidate for president of the United States would go behind closed doors and say things that he wouldn't say on the campaign trail. It just accentuates his feeling that he is superior and that he is out of touch to mainstream Americans.  He's being sneaky, indigenous, insincere and arrogant! He has called almost half of Americans that are dependent on government for their well being moochers, and that he is "not concerned about that because they are lazy and will never change".  Romney said "I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives".  He said "that the 47% who pay no income tax, are victims and feel entitled to a lot of federal benefits".  That is outrageously insulting!

Let's take a look at some of these 47%ers.  What about students who need to have government aid to attend a community college? What about waitresses and buss-boys, janitors that don't earn enough to pay taxes?  What about the Active duty military in combat zones, and Iraq war veterans who go to the VA?  What about retired citizens who have Medicare and live on their Social Security, which they have earned through decades of working and paying taxes? I could go on and on with examples - these Americans are self sufficient and independent, not free-loaders.

The 47% issue has been compared to Obama's 2008 comment about working class people  "clinging to guns or religion".  If you're a church-going supporter of gun control, you could take exception to "God" and "guns".  But Obama was right:  most of Obama's observation was compassionate toward blue-collar American's who feel betrayed by government.  Obama's point was to reach out to, not write off, his fellow Americans.  What Romney got wrong is: among wealthy nations it's difficult to find one where people work harder than the United States.  The donors at the Boca Raton fundraiser were made possible by the strong efforts of proud, self-sufficient people, including many in the negative 47%.

Just as a reminder, you may want to read again what our infamous Republican candidate for President had to say at a fundraiser.  Watch you're blood pressure when you read this.

"There are 47% of the people who will vote for the president no matter what.  There are 47% who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it.  That That's an entitlement.  And the government should give it to them.  And they will vote for this president no matter what....These are the people who pay no income tax.  My job is not to worry about those people.  I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

MITT ROMNEY SAID THIS WAS NOT "ELEGANTLY STATED"....... PAUL RYAN SAID IT WAS "INARTICULATE"....... WHAT DO YOU THINK???

WELSH COOKIES AND COSTCO

ACTUALLY......Ann, I had told myself that I wouldn't pick on you any more because you are are suffering from MS (and also from being Mitt's wife).  But really!!! after what I read about your speech last night, I just have to make some comments.

First, I guess I have to admit that I would not have listened to the Convention last night if I had to unplug every television in my house, and believe me, there are a lot of them.  Thank goodness for Cable movies.  I do read all the critiques and will complement you on your composure, as well as your lovely red dress.  Why didn't you wear that $960.00 shirt you bought, it was beautiful.

Portraying Mitt Romney as "the man America needs" is a little off the wall.  Oh! And the fact that "he will wake up every day with the determination to solve problems that others say can't be solved, to fix what others say is beyond repair".  I think your description of Mitt's being a faithful and loyal, principled husband, father and businessman is admirable, but let's face it Ann, his business experience leaves much to be desired and absolutely doesn't qualify him to be President of the United States. Perhaps you could convince him to release his taxes and tell us what he's hiding in all those offshore accounts.  The Boston Herald was kind enough to share that you said "people think Mitt's such a strong person, but I run the show".

I learned that you are a campaign multitasker; mother; wife; political activist, public relations expert, baker, and OMG, a "bargin hunter", (does Mitt really wear those shirts from Costco).  What an image buster that is.  Which of your Cadillacs, do you take shopping?  I know you've no doubt had to struggle at times with your busy schedule of cotillions, cookie baking and tennis dates, but I haven't heard mention of Rafalca, and if he's still dancing.  I do wish you well with your health problems. MS is a very serious illness and I pray that you continue with your excellent recovery.

In your speech last night you said "women are too smart to know there aren't any easy answers, but not dumb enough to accept that there aren't better answers".  I couldn't agree more!!

PRESIDENT OBAMA HAS THE ANSWERS AND HE IS THE MAN AMERICA NEEDS.

MITT AGAINST THE FACT-CHECKERS

ACTUALLY....... I really think that this Presidential campaign is causing too much stress for Romney.  He is acting goofier than usual, by making claims that are proven to be false. Here's what is causing him to lose his cool.

"At the request of several states, including 2 with Republican governors, the Obama administration announced in July that it would consider waiving certain federal welfare rules if the states have ideas for 'demonstration projects' they promise can increase welfare employment outcomes by 20% (states are required to maintain percentages of welfare beneficiaries in work activities or else face penalties).   The administration has not announced that it has issued any waivers."  A Mitt Romney TV ad claims the president has adopted "a plan to gut welfare reform by dropping work requirements".  That's completely false-work requirements are not being dropped.   States may now change the requirements, revising adding or eliminating them, as a part of a federally approved state-specific plan to increase job replacement.  Benefits still won't be paid beyond an allotted time whether the recipient is working or not.

To be even more ridiculous Romney says that under Obama's plan "you wouldn't have to work and wouldn't have to train for a job - you'd just get a check in the mail."

Romney's campaign has continued to produce ad's that falsely claim President Obama ended the requirement that people on welfare engage in work.  The Des Moines Register asked about his false ads.  "Iowans who consider you an honest man are asking why you would keep repeating something that isn't true."

Romney said "Fact-checkers on both sides of the aisle will look in the way they think is most consistent with their own views.  It's very clear that others who have looked at the same issue feel that the president violates the provision of the act which requires work in welfare, defines what work is. He guts that, he ends that requirement for those that seek welfare."

Ron Haskins, a welfare expert and former Republican congressional staffer who helped write the 1996 welfare reform law has said "Romney's welfare attacks are bogus.  There is no plausible scenario under which it really constitutes a serious attack on welfare reform."  Romneys campaign has been saying "Obama quietly ended work requirements for welfare".

THERE IS NO PROOF FOR THE PREMISE OF ROMNEY'S WELFARE TV ADS.

WHERE DID THE MONEY GO?

ACTUALLY....In my last post, I mentioned that I would have some information on President's Obama's 2009 stimulus package.  I have done some research and this is as close as I can get.  I'm the first to admit that this is indeed a confusing project.  This package was passed by the House in 2009,without the need for any GOP votes.

According to the administration, not that all the stimulus money has been spent; it has been committed for specific projects and programs. There’s still about $168 billion in stimulus money that has not actually been paid out. But it says nearly all of that money already is tied up in contracts with companies, obligations with states and local governments, promised taxpayer relief and commitments to government programs.

Raymond Scheppach, executive director of the National Governors Association has said "for states, much of that money for Medicaid and education has been worked into budgets, so if Congress took it back it could leave shortfalls that would be a serious problem because they’re depending on that money.”

According to  Liz Oxhorn, the White House’s spokeswoman for the economic recovery program tells us,  "these remaining dollars include funding for major high-speed rail, clean energy and other infrastructure projects that in many cases have already been awarded and just haven’t been formally put under contract.
Rescinding these funds could halt job-creating projects years in the making where preliminary work in some cases is already under way.”
