LIES AND UNTRUTHS

ACTUALLY........The media wants us to believe that Governor Romneys performance at the debate, on October 4, was a stunning performance, praising his preparedness. Well coached possibly, but to me he appeared to have a somewhat frazzled look about him, almost constantly blinking his red rimed eyes, as if to ask "am I doing this right".  Yes, he succeeded to pull off what he started to do, but he only accomplished this goal by repeatedly misleading viewers. Can you believe - 27 lies in 38 minutes?  According to the number crunchers, that's about .71 lies per minute.  And yes!  This is fact-checked.  Now that's an accomplishment, albeit not one to be proud of!! I'm not trying to write a book here, so I'll try to briefly pass these untruths on to you for your own examination.  I can't rebut all these lies here on my post, but if your interested you can find them on the internet.  Just go to "27 lies in 38minutes". These are only a few of the major lies from the 27, now you can look up the facts and decide for yourself.  Remember, honesty is the best policy.......so in the words of Governor Mitt Romney:
  • 1)  "Mr. President all of the increase in natural gas and oil has happened on private land, not on government land."
  • 2)  "I don't have a $5 trillion tax cut.  I don't have a tax cut of a scale you're talking about.
  • 3)  "My view is that we ought to provide tax relief to people in the middle-class.  But I'm not going to reduce the share of taxes paid by high income people.
  • 4)  "My number one principal is, there will be no tax cut that adds to the deficit.  I want to underline will not under any circumstances raise taxes on the middle-income families.  I will lower taxes on middle-income families.
  • 6)  "I saw a study today that you were going to raise taxes by $3,000 to $4,000 on middle class families."
  • 7)  "I'd like to bring money back from overseas".  (Please check this one in depth)
  • 8)  "I will repeal Obamacare", get rid of "Big Bird" and cut PBS broadcasting."
  • 9)  "I will take the Medicaid dollars that go to the states and say to a state, you're going to get what you did last year, plus 1% inflation, then you take care of the poor the way you think best."
  • 10) Concerning Medicare - "preexisting conditions are covered under my plan."

TELL THE TRUTH, THE WHOLE TRUTH, AND NOTHING  BUT THE TRUTH

WHIPLASH...........

ACTUALLY....... Mitt Romney proceeded to offensively attack the dignity, offend and insult 47% of the American people, which includes not just the poor but also working-class families, members of the military and the elderly. He said  "it wasn't his job to worry about those people".  Well, that disgusting statement didn't do much for him, so.... last Sunday night he told Scott Pelley, on 60 Minutes, that he cares about 100% of the people.  He said he was in this race for the poor and the middle class. That was not just a flip-flop, it was a backwards double-sumersault whiplash!!

The only 100% that Governor Romney cares about are himself and his wealthy cronies.  For instance:
  •  Romney wants to cut service personnel, their pay, their health care and their pensions
  •  Romney wants to privatize the United States Post Office
  •  He wants to cut back on fire fighters and police officers
  •  The EPA - a little cut back there.  Do you think Romney cares if we have clean air, or clean water
  •  He plans to privatize Social Security-you can put a little money aside each month for your retirement
  •  Romney would "get rid of" Medicare.  He'd issue vouchers and you can buy your own health care
  •  He would end FEMA.  Cantor says fine, but only after he's sure it provides aid to his territory first.
  •  Romney will privatize schools.  If he closes public schools and have children go to private schools with vouchers, this would eliminate union teachers.  The private schools could choose whatever they want for tuition or deny students whom they consider unfit to go to their schools.  The private schools do not have to accept the public school children.
  •  Romney would do away with the hiring of teachers with 'highly qualified certification' requirements and block grants for money for states that adapt policies focused on improving teacher effectiveness.
  •  Romney says that classroom size doesn't matter to students, and doesn't impact educational outcomes.  After all his elite schools had classrooms of 14 students, Romney's children had just 11
  • He supports low interest rates on student loans on a temporary basis.  His best advice for students trying to figure out how to afford college "shop around, borrow money from your parents".
  • Planned Parenthood, he'll git rid of that, never mind the 3 million patients that depended on that last year
  • Taxes - the rich get richer and the poor get poorer
  • Obamacare - he'd repeal most of that on his first day in office

THIS.... IS PAUL RYAN

ACTUALLY..... In Paul Ryan's acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention, he said:  "you are entitled to the clearest possible choice because the time for choosing is drawing near".  He followed this with "Here is our pledge:  We will not duck the tough issues -  we will lead". If Mr. Ryan and Mitt Romney truly want the voters to make an undisputed choice, then they have to be more positive in exactly what their unequivocal choice is.  They need to decisively tell the American people what they would do and HOW they would accomplish it.

Their choice was not on Mr. Ryan's agenda. Instead he talked about his personal life growing up in a small town, gave a little testimonial to his running mate, and then went on to a misleading indictment of President Obama as being a threat to American freedom.  He claimed the presidents vision is "a government-planned life, where everything is free but us".  That little statement did nothing but insult voters who know better.  Here's a list of 5 lies that Ryan told that night.

1. Lie:  President Obama is the "greatest threat" to Medicare.
Obama didn't make any cuts to Medicare benefits, he made cuts to provider reimbursements, to improve cost efficiency and extend the fiscal security of Medicare by 8 years.  Truth:  Ryan actually does want to cut benefits.  He proposed dismantling Medicare and replacing it with a voucher system, leaving millions of seniors to come up with more money to pay for care out of pocket.
2.  Lie:  President Obama didn't save a General Motors plant in Wisconsin.  Truth:  Obama wasn't even in office when the GM plant closed.
3.  Lie:  President Obama ignored recommendations of a bipartisan debt commission.  Truth:  Ryan sat on that commission, and he led Republicans in voting down the commission's own recommendation.  The commission never gave a report to Obama, because Ryan himself voted to kill the report before it could reach the president.
4.  Lie:  President Obama is responsible for the downgrading of the U.S. Credit Rating.  Truth:  Ryan and the House Republicans held the full faith and credit of the U.S. hostage to try to ransom it for trillions of dollars in cuts to social programs without increasing taxes on the wealthy.  Standard & Poors said specifically, "We have changed our assumption on revenue because the majority of Republicans in Congress continue to resist any measure that would raise revenues".  That's why our nations credit was downgraded.
5.  Lie:  Ryan wants to protect the "weak".  Truth:  Ryan's biggest feat in his political career was proposing a budget with dramatic cuts to programs benefiting the poor.  He'd cut Medicaid by one third, take away health care insurance from 30 million Americans, and cut Pell Grants for 1 million students.  All so he could give more tax breaks to the rich.

Ryan is determined to dismantle Social Security (which he wants to privatize) and Medicare (which he wants to replace with a voucher system, meaning, you get to fend for yourself against private insurance companies that will charge you a few thousand dollars a month for really bad insurance).

What's interesting, is that Social Security helped Paul Ryan go to college and make him the man he is today (which in my opinion is not good). Paul Ryan benefited from the largesse of big liberal government. Government that he now wants to take away from the rest of us.
From the age of 16, when his 55-year-old father died of a heart attack, until he was 18, Ryan received Social Security payments, which, he put away for college. The eventual budget czar attended Miami University in Ohio to earn a B.A. in economics and political science, and landed a congressional internship as a junior.  He didn't finish college but still accepted the payments.
Ryan, the powerful chairman of the House Budget Committee, is still not discussing his plan on the campaign trail.  "At it's core, it provides another round of tax cuts for people like Romney and companies like Bain Capital at the expense of everybody in America.  At the expense of seniors on Medicare, at the expense of middle-class taxpayers, at the expense of investments and education and infrastructure and things necessary to help power our economy.  Romney and Ryan are hiding the consequences of their plan from he American people".

RYAN'S PEP RALLY

ACTUALLY....Republican vice president candidate Paul Ryan began his pep rally Wednesday night with this wife and three children on stage.  That was an admirable beginning to a speech full of  lies, dishonesty and anger.  He was there, of course, to accept the GOP's nomination for vice president or, in his own words, he "accepted the calling of my generation to help lead the county in tough times" and told the audience that Mitt Romney and he will make the difficult decisions needed to repair the nations economy. "We will not duck the tough issues, we will lead." Neither of the men has said how they would do that. WOW, why doesn't that give me a warm fuzzy feeling?

The National Catholic Reporter seems to think that Ryan's budget, fully endorsed by Mitt Romney, is taking out it's fiscal anger on the middle-class and poor, and asks where their deep seated anger comes from.  We all recognize that the federal deficit needs to be overhauled and that Medicare and Social Security could certainly stand improvement.  But the Ryan budget which the U.S. Bishops have called a "moral failure", is not the way to go.

Ryan hammered President Obama on a number of things.   His first hit was on, you guessed it, Medicare.  In a major section of his speech he tried to deflect Democratic criticism that he would slash Medicare benefits as part of his broad budget cutting plan.  Here is were he made one of his huge mistakes.  He said that President Obama made devastating cuts to the health care program for the elderly. Ryan said that the "president robbed Medicare of $716 billion".   What he didn't say that was Obama's Medicare cuts were to be over the next 10 years and in reimbursements to insurers and hospitals, not in payments to beneficiaries.
Ryan ignored the fact that he incorporated the same cuts into budgets through the House in the past two years, using the money for deficit reduction.

Not everyone was pleased.  There was a woman who wanted to hear Republican leaders address foreign policy.  That was not included in Ryan's speech and she said obviously "this party isn't ready to talk about foreign policy".  (Perhaps it's because they don't know anything about foreign policy.)  Others noted that Ryan didn't say much about how he would cut spending and entitlement programs while preserving Medicare. There again, he probably doesn't have a clue.

He talked about the stimulus legislation that Congress passed at Obama's request in 2009 to help stabilize the economy.  What he didn't elaborate on was that he asked for some of that funding, which eventually went to two energy conservation companies in his home state.

Mr. Ryan spoke of other issues, many of which were based on deception and lies.  That topic is for another day.  As an unidentified woman said at the end of the evening:

"THE CONGRESSMAN'S SPEECH SKIPPED LIGHTLY OVER INCONVENIENT FACTS"

RYAN - THE DEFICIT HAWK ????

ACTUALLY......  A long time ago the media decided that Paul Ryan was an honest, reasonable, serious conservative and that his proposals were somewhat worthy even if you don't like him. Well, guess what, he isn't honest and not reasonable.  He may be a conservative, but the majority of the people simply don't like him. He has this super-duper budget he's proposed that will make us think in 10 years we've all risen to a better life.

Mr. Ryan proposes big cuts in tax rates - on top income brackets and corporations. The nonpartisan Tax Policy Center did the math, and the revenue loss from these cuts comes to $4.3 trillion over the next 10 years.

Mr. Ryan also has proposed large cuts in Medicaid.  He wants to turn this program over to the states while reducing funding under the current policy.  (He hasn't given us the plan for the states to fund this project, which they can't unless they receive that funding from another source.) That saves about $800 billion.  He proposes huge cuts in food stamps (another real blow to the poor) saving perhaps another $130 billion in addition to a variety of other cuts including reduced aid to college students.  We're at about $1 trillion with these cuts. He is also including the $716 billion in Medicare savings that are part of Obamacare (he wants to "get rid" of everything else in that act).

Now, if Paul Ryan's proposals were calculated , we have $4.3 trillion in tax cuts, offset by about $1.7 trillion in spending cuts  -  remember the tax cuts benefit the top 1% and the spending cuts would be taken away from low-income families.  Over all, the deficit would be increased by around two and half trillion dollars.

Here are some examples of his not being reasonable:  He says he will offset the tax cuts by getting rid of enough tax deductions to make up the lost revenue, which deductions - he won't say:  he says he has a secret tax and spending plan which will turn his total plan into deficit reduction - shhh, he won't say. The Ryan plan would end Medicare as we know it, and the nations fiscal future is often equivalent to slashing Medicare and Social Security. The Ryan plan would most assuredly increase, not reduce, the deficit.

He's not a serious conservative, he's a rebel rousing, obnoxious, loud mouth, trouble maker.

ROMNEY DOESN'T UNDERSTAND THE MIDDLE CLASS

ACTUALLY.....Have you heard that Mitt Romney has a "plan for a stronger middle class"?  HaHaHa, that's a good one!  Mitt Romney doesn't even have a plan.  Instead he has things that he dreams of happening.  Things like lower taxes for the wealthy, smaller government, weaker rights for the workers.  What he really wants is to find a way to get more income to the 1%.  He is so far out of touch with the real world, he has no clue about a solution for the middle class.

If Romney is elected President a great percentage of  Americans' standard of living will fall.  During his business career he outsourced American jobs to foreign countries, bought companies that were not prospering well only to wind up forcing them into bankruptcy, while he made millions.  He even mentioned that he likes to "fire people".  He brags about his wealth and has said many times that he's not ashamed of  being successful.  Nor should he be, if his wealth was earned in an honest and respectful way.  Mitt Romney is so full of himself and so arrogant that he actually believes all the crap he puts out.

I'm sure he doesn't like to admit it, but there really is someone wealthier than he is.  Billionaire Warren Buffet  told ABC News "If anything, taxes for the lower and middle class and maybe even the upper middle class should even probably be cut further.   The rich say give us more money, and we'll go out and spend more, and then it will all trickle down to the rest of you. But that has not worked the last 10 years, and I hope the American public is catching on.  But I think that people at the high end,  people like myself, should be paying a lot more in taxes. We have it better than we've ever had it."

In my opinion, the real problem is that Mitt Romney doesn't have the slightest idea what it's like to live on a budget, trying to stretch that dollar as far as it will go, will they be able to pay their mortgage.  He's never been middle class and I bet if you ask him he probably has no idea how the American people, that don't have the wealth he has, manage to put food on the table, send their children to school and live in a safe neighborhood.  That silver spoon is jammed so far in his mouth that he can't even think about those who are less fortunate than he has always been.

The middle class Americans don't send their children to private schools Mitt - they're not raised in houses with servants that cook and clean for them, and a lot of them are in day care centers while both their parents are working.  A great majority of them are dependent on Planned Parenthood, because they can't afford to pay a doctor for the routine check-ups that are necessary to keep them healthy.  They work hard for years so that they can some day retire and take advantage of Medicare and Social Security.

Gov. Romney if you would just climb down off that high horse of yours and walk in the shoes of the middle class maybe, just maybe, you could understand the life that you have never lived.

"YOU PEOPLE"

ACTUALLY....... This is too good to not share.  Ann Romney has every right to say whatever she wants, but her haughtiness in her recent news interview could be down right insulting.  I really don't know what the question was that caused her to go ballistic, but here is what she said:

"Seriously, what do you people expect? In the last two years alone, my husband and I have tithed $1.5 and $2.6 million, and given $7 million to charity. To get received, (??not sure what that means) we have to pay, not that I mind, no really, I don’t. What have you people done? We even gave up our elevator for you people. What’s going to be enough?  Honestly, my Mitt is a very generous person.  I've got stuff.  And haven’t you people read anything about my Mitt? All the people he’s helped. He saved the Olympics! Do you really think that is the kind of person who is trying to hide things, or do things? Private equity is what it is, deal with it. At least the guy got paid to build the stage.  Oh, and when he was Massachusetts governor he didn’t take a salary. I won’t even go into all the money we had to move around to make that one work! Christmas was a nightmare. Mitts doing God's work, don't you people know anything?  I just wish I was sure, because you people are so ungrateful. The economy would be in a sink hole if it weren’t for all the taxes rich people pay… well, we don’t pay them, er.. I mean, we pay enough, so you people don’t have to."

I have never heard or read so much babbling in my entire life.  I'm sure that what she really wanted to say is that she is better than anyone else (you know, she "has stuff").  And “you people” that are lower class than she and not entitled to the information that the wealthy share.  She was saying that we are of a different 'class' of people.

What rock have you been under lady?  Sure you're rich, but do you think you're the only la-de-da wealthy woman in the U.S.  That is not only ridiculous, it's insulting, and pathetic.   As far as I'm concerned you have really shown your idiotic, insecure real persona.

But.....Here's the real deal.  She is hiding information, every bit as dangerous as her husband.  The Daily Kos first looked into Romney World back in 2008. The blog discovered "that Bain Capital was set up as a front company for Panamanian shell corporations to hide money. The L.A. Times got into it further last week. The families that held control of  El Salvador by assassinations contributed to several of Bain Capital’s shell companies. And Bill Bain specifically told Romney that the Panamanian money had to be totally separate from Bain & Company, the parent of Bain Capital. This was to be Romney’s baby. If word got out that Bain & Company was off-shoring money for dictators, Bill Bain’s U.S stakeholders would dump him."  From what I've been able to tell, Romney invested the money in the U.S.  But, with Romney in the deals with his investors Bill Bain just left.

Ann Romney "has stuff" and knows "stuff " and says you people don't have a right to know.  She feels that what the upper class does is no business of the lower class. Those in Romneyville doubled their incomes, investments property, etc.  And you know what they want to give the rest of Americans - coupons for Medicare and privatize our Social Security. Ann Romney doesn't want you people to know about how she and Mitt live their life.

Now tell me, are Mr. and Mrs. Romney doing God's work?

IF ROMNEY WERE TO BECOME PRESIDENT

ACTUALLY,  shown below are some of the changes Mitt Romney would make if he is elected president.  I feel these actions would be harmful to America. I'm asking that you please read this carefully and then form your own opinions of what you want for struggling families in America.

1.  His positions are radically anti-women.  He supports banning all abortions regardless of reason,  including   rape or incest.  He would "get rid" of federal funding for Planned Parenthood.  This organization provides services like cancer screening for millions of women that can't afford it.

2.  He would appeal Obamacare.  Insurance companies would be allowed to increase premiums, deny coverage for preexisting conditions, drop patients when they get sick, and spend more of our premium dollars on CEO profits and bonuses instead of actual health care.

3. Romney is a risk when it comes to foreign policy and national security.  He keeps shifting his positions for political reasons within the same campaign.  He has no plans to end the war in Afghanistan and has said he would leave our troops there indefinitely.  He has called our Presidents decision to bring home our troops from Iraq  "tragic".

4.  He would double down on the disastrous tax policies that go directly to the wealthy - forget the middle class.  Millionaires and billionaires would get a $250,000 tax cut, and families with kids making less than $40,000 per year would actually see their taxes go up, and guess what?  He thinks millionaires should continue to take advantages of loopholes and special deals so that they pay a lower tax rate than the middle class and - Oh yes!  he supports tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas.

5.  Medicare?  -  "get rid of it" and force seniors to purchase private insurance.  There would be a voucher for that, but you can bet it won't cover premiums when some families are on extremely limited budgets.  He also favors privatizing Social Security.

Mitt Romney has a difficult time in telling the truth, as well as sticking to statements he makes.  He said "if I'm elected President of the United States, with your help, I will tell the truth" .  Do we really want a man to run our country who needs help in telling the truth.??  I think not!!
